Seeking Creative Team Members!

The sketch blog is due to reveal its first (well, second) sketch on September 1, 2013! In order to get ready for that excitement, we are seeking some wonderful scrapbookers to help provide a diverse level of inspiration by creating pages that use the sketches I design. If you are interested, please keep reading!

As a member of the Creative Team, you will be expected to do the following:

  • Create pages with the provided sketches between September 1, 2013 and February 28, 2013.
  • Submit 2 layouts per month with provided sketches by given due dates.
  • Commit to design pages from sketches only for Simple Sketches (meaning, not belonging to any other sketch blog teams. Manufacturer, store, and other challenge teams are not a problem).
  • Maintain an active blog and promote Simple Sketches via that blog (if you do not currently have one, creating a blog and keeping it active during your Creative Team term(s)).
  • Participate in a Facebook Group for Creative Team members and on the Simple Sketches Facebook page and Flickr group
  • Visit the pages posted to the InLinkz and leave comments for sketch participants.
Since Simple Sketches is just starting out, there is currently no compensation, other than we will promote you as a scrapbook artist on the Simple Sketches blog.

To apply for this call, you will need to do the following:

1) Create a page using this sketch:

2) Email a photograph or scan of your page to simple.sketches.blog@gmail.com, with the subject Creative Team Call. In the body of your email, please include:
  • Your name.
  • Your country (if outside of the US) or state (if inside the US).
  • A link to your blog and other online galleries.
  • A short bio, including any previous or current design teams (previous design team experience is not required, however), and what kind of scrapper you consider yourself to be.
  • A little bit about why you'd like to join the Simple Sketches team.

Emails will be accepted until July 20, 2013, and those chosen for the Creative Team will be notified before July 30, 2013, when I will announce the Creative Team.

We are looking for digital, traditional, and hybrid scrapbookers in all kinds of styles (simple, graphic, artsy, shabby chic, etc.) and sizes (12x12, 12x24, 6x6, 8.5x11, etc.), so please don't exclude yourself for any reason! I'm really excited to see the (hopefully) many submissions and choose a diverse team of scrapbookers to provide us all with inspiration!

Welcome to Simple Sketches!

What can be shared about Simple Sketches before it's open? I'm sure many of you are curious as to what the, "simple" part of Simple Sketches means. The basic idea started when I guest hosted a sketch challenge on Scrapbook.com, as I was asking the participants what they preferred to see in a page sketch, and the resounding answer was this:

Sketches without all of the fuss so that we can decide what embellishments or extras to do ourselves.

Now, my sketches aren't completely devoid of extras. There may be distressing or a flower or two thrown on, just for suggestion, but for the most part, that extra is left up to you, the person actually making the page! I love to create sketches and have been doing so for a while. You can find some in my Scrapbook.com gallery, along with a couple other sites out on the web, and a few on my personal blog.

There are a few places where we are working to create a buzz and spread the word about Simple Sketches. The first is Facebook, and you can see all major announcements there. Another is Flickr, where I've created a group for people to share their pages. And finally, I've created a Twitter feed where I will try to keep those who aren't on Facebook up to date with the latest news between now and the launch date, and beyond.

In the meantime, I will give a tiny peek into what the design team call will be. I'm looking for a variety of styles, from those who are considered "simple" to those who love to embellish like crazy. I'd like to find a handful of traditional, digital, and hybrid scrapbookers, and maybe even a modular scrapbooker, if the sketches can be translated for that. I'd love to have scrapbookers who stick to the basic ideas of the sketches, and those who take the sketches and run with them until they've created something truly unique. In other words: I could be looking for you and your scrapbooking style, whatever that is!

So please stay tuned to this blog, to the Facebook page, or to the Twitter feed for more information about how you can join the Simple Sketches team. In the meantime, I will try to populate the sidebar of the blog with a badge for followers and buttons for all of the places you can find Simple Sketches.
